Seven weeks of lockdown and counting…how have you spent it?

Here at Stockwell Safety, we have been busy developing our Pool Plant Operator online course. It has been endorsed by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) and the Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group (PWTAG).

On successful completion of the training, the Pool Plant Operators can:

increase knowledge and boost their career prospects
maintain a safe, clean and hygienic swimming pool and spa water
manage all aspects of pool plant operations
meet their legal duties set out in the Health and Safety Executive publication ‘HSG179 Managing Health and Safety in Swimming Pools’.

The course can be accessed through our Learning Management System. It works on any internet-connected device and when you have completed the online purchase, you will be sent login details and instructions for instant access.

Lessons are made up of topics which contain interactive videos, real-life photos with explanations and demonstrations on tasks such as how to conduct chlorine and pH tests. After you finish studying a topic, you can mark it complete and your progress will be saved.

You will also get access to resources that you could use in your everyday work, such as the Pool Water Testing Parameters and Frequencies together with recommended actions on what to do if test results are too high or too low.

This course involves the assessment of both theory AND work-based, practical elements. The theory is assessed with an end of lesson knowledge tests and an end of course exam.

You have several options available to you as to how to demonstrate the work-based practical elements, you can either get your manager to confirm you have completed the tasks, send us video evidence or we can send our assessor over to you for one day to carry out the assessments.

Here are a few FAQ:

Once I have paid for it, do I have to do it in 2 solid days or can I do it as and when I like, i.e. pause it and go back to it over several days?

Every time you complete a topic, you can mark it complete and you can come back to it to carry on over several days.

You will have access to the course for 3 years as we feel it’s a good tool to use in learners everyday work.

How long will the course take?

That depends on the learner’s experience. If they are familiar with the Pool Plant Operations, they might be able to complete the online elements in a day. For someone not experienced, the recommended learning time would be 18 hours.

What payment options do you have available?

We have two options:

1. You can pay by a card or PayPal online. When you pay, just use the individual’s email address that the course is for. They will get an email with login instructions.

2. We can issue an invoice which can be paid via bacs, card or PayPal. With this option, you would need to send us the names and email addresses of the learners so we can create their accounts and email them with their login details and instructions on how to access the course.

How long is the qualification valid for?

The qualification is valid for 3 years.

When will I get my certificate?

We will issue the PWTAG and CIMSPA endorsed certificate when you have completed all of the assessments.
