Compliance Manager Jan Holmes reached out to Stockwell Safety to provide some health and safety support.

Adam Harries CMIOSH, was the health and safety consultant assigned to the case. “It was clear to me that there was a very positive culture within the organisation when it came to the health, safety and welfare of the learners. What was needed was a little more structure to allow Jayne to more clearly see how all the moving parts of the health and safety management system worked together. When I met Jayne to discuss how we could help, I went through our approach, which involves working collaboratively with our clients to devise and implement bespoke solutions.”

Engagement

Stockwell Safety conducted an audit of the health and safety management system in place at the college in order to provide the overview necessary for a gap analysis. Says Jayne, “…from the audit we were able to work through a number of actions to give a more comprehensive management system. We also were able to arrange training through Stockwell Safety.”

As Adam explains, “I devised a bespoke audit for Petty Pool and visited site a few times in order to observe the activities that take place, speak to staff, and critically review the health and safety documentation they had. Following the audit, I was able to identify a few solutions that would help.”

“The support and advice allowed us to asses where we were and what our strengths and areas for improvement were.  We then had a clear way forward, along with continued advice and support from Stockwell Safety”.

The Results

Stockwell Safety followed up with Jayne a few months later to find out how our solutions have helped following implementation. Says Jayne;

“…we generally feel more confident in the management of Health and Safety and are being a lot more proactive in our approach – to match our already good working practices.”
